Second week in!
This week in reading, we have been learning how to pick good fit books (ask them to sing the i-pick song for you!). I-pick stands for I choose, Purpose, Interest, Comprehend and Know. In math we have been learning place value, working with tens and ones. We are still working on handwriting and making sure our letters are being formed correctly as well as reviewing letters they learned in Kindergarten. We have been having a lot of fun learning our new concepts and I can't wait to see their progress in a couple of weeks! Keep practicing with them at home!
We have also earned 5 charms! The students have been participating in class and have been so well behaved in line! They are definitely showing that they know the ABC's of our school and the staff at our school is noticing! I'm so proud of them for being such big first graders and you should be proud of them too!

First Week So Far!
We have had a great week so far! We have been learning a lot of rules about our school and our classroom. In reading we have been reviewing letters, learning about character, setting, events, beginning, middle and end. We have also been working on our writing and exploring our math manipulatives! It has been great getting to know each student and I have a feeling that it is going to be a great year! Here are a few photos from this week! Also, a reminder that Open House is TOMORROW Aug. 23 at 6:15p.m!

Meet the Teacher
Meet the teacher was a success! I was able to meet 12 out of 19 students and parents! I loved getting to meet everyone and it just made me even more excited for Monday! I can't wait to get this school year started! See you all on Monday!
