Sorry it has been a while since I've posted! It has been a crazy busy couple of months! We have had our field trip, FAIR testing, SAT 10 testing, preparing for our restaurant and the end of the year! We have been learning new things and reviewing the past couple of weeks. In math, we learned our 2 and 3-D shapes, data analysis with picture graphs, tally charts and bar graphs and now we're busy reviewing all of our math skills so we're pro's at them in 2nd grade! In Language Arts we have been learning multisyllabic words with suffixes, reviewing all of our phonics skills and sight words, writing our animal research projects, and being synthesis superheroes in comprehension. In science, we have been learning about living things and getting to observe our awesome critters! We've been able to explore two types of worms and some goldfish! In social studies, we have been learning about goods and services and preparing to run a Mexican restaurant for you parents! We are so excited about all of our upcoming events and for Summer! Here are some pictures of what has been going on in our classroom the past couple of months! Enjoy!

March
It has been a jam packed couple of months in Ms. Toledo's class! We have been learning a lot and trying to prepare for upcoming tests and 2nd grade! I can't believe this school year is almost over! In math we have been learning double digit addition, including adding and subtracting 10 and double digit addition without regrouping. In reading, we're in our 2nd week of vowel-consonant 'e' words (hope, joke, made). In comprehension, we have just begun talking about sequence and cause and effect. In science, we have been learning about living and non-living things. Here are a few pictures of the students working hard at double digit addition number sentences and word problems!
As most of you know, I recently got married! I just wanted to thank each one of you for the love and support you have shown me and Mr. Jeremy through this special time! Here is a picture from our wedding!
Important Dates:
Friday, March 21 - Legoland Field Trip (be in our classroom at 6:30 a.m., leaving at 7!)
April - FAIR testing and Parent Conferences
May - SAT 10

January
January has flown by! I can't believe it! We've been busy learning how to measure with non-standard units (our feet, pencils, paper clips, linking cubes), learning about force and motion in science, learning blends, r-controlled vowels, and closed syllables, and text connections and comparing and contrasting. It's been a month full of learning new things, but we've had a lot of fun doing it! Here are some pictures of us measuring and doing some science experiments along the way!
We also celebrated literacy week! We did a lot of reading that week and we also got to share our reading skills with some second graders! We also had two guest readers, Mr. Ben and Mr. Jeremy, come and share their favorite books with us! It was a blast hearing someone else read to us!

December
I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas break! I know I am! Just a little update while I have some down time :) We have all been extremely excited for Christmas, but we still had to get some learning in! In science, we studied Land and Water and got to observe how lakes form with sand and water and we also got to observe different types of rocks under a microscope! In math, we finished up missing addends and jumped right in to measurement with some fun Christmas pictures. In social studies, we learned about how different countries celebrate Christmas.
On the last three days, we celebrated Christmas by making Christmas crafts and on the last day we watched Polar Express and had hot chocolate!
